entity constraints

Entity constraints are rules or decoding restrictions applied during automated text processing and generation to ensure that extracted or generated entities conform strictly to a predefined schema, vocabulary, or knowledge base. In natural language processing and structured information extraction, these constraints guide the generation process by limiting token selection at inference time to valid entity names or identifiers, typically through mechanisms such as prefix tries or grammar-based search. By preventing models from outputting nonexistent or out-of-domain entities, entity constraints eliminate hallucinated references and guarantee that extracted structured knowledge, such as relational facts and entity links, remains fully compatible with the underlying target ontology.
