OCR module
An optical character recognition module, commonly referred to as an OCR module, is a specialized software or algorithmic component within a larger computational system or multimodal architecture designed to detect, extract, and recognize textual information present in visual inputs such as images or video frames. Operating on visual data, it localizes regions containing text and transcribes visible characters into machine-readable strings, semantic tokens, or visual-textual feature representations. In integrated vision and language systems, the OCR module acts as a perceptual sub-network, supplying downstream reasoning mechanisms, decision pipelines, or language models with transcribed words and their spatial coordinates to enable deeper comprehension, analysis, and reasoning over text-rich scenes.
